Biography

Jason Becker is one of the world's most innovative and awe-inspiring guitarists and musicians. At 17, he recorded the first of two Cacophony albums with Marty Friedman, followed by his jaw-dropping debut solo album, Perpetual Burn, in 1988. In 1990, he was voted "Best New Guitarist" by the readers of Guitar magazine.

While recording David Lee Roth's A Little Ain't Enough (1991), Jason was diagnosed with amyotrophic lateral sclerosis, or ALS (Lou Gehrig's Disease), which is a progressive neurodegenerative disease that affects nerve cells in the brain and the spinal cord, eventually leading to paralysis and, typically, death. Doctors said he wouldn't live to see his 25th birthday, yet now, decades after his diagnosis, Becker is alive and continues to make music using his eyes and custom computer software.
